The Eight Trigrams

According to legend, the Eight Trigrams have a mysterious power to drive away evil spirits and ward off evil, so they are attached at the center of large beams to protect and stabilize the structure.

Coiled Dragon Columns

Two dragons are coiled around each column, representing the universe at peace.A coiled dragon is a dragon that has not yet ascended to heaven.

Dragons

Standing as guardians on the main ridges of the tiled temple roofs, they signify prayers for rain, warding off evil, and preventing fire.

Phoenixes

In ancient times, people believed that when the earth was at peace, phoenixes would appear. Accordingly, the phoenix has long been an auspicious symbol.

Crossbeams and Carved Panels

The crossbeams below the eaves of the covered walkways along the Hu Long support half-columns and so serve to stabilize the structure. Below them are panels that are often used for decorative features.
